What's in my brain?

That’s a tough one. I’m clearly an undiagnosed ADHD sufferer, so it changes constantly. The big themes are – SOLVING THE PUZZLE -the Telemetry value proposition puzzle. We have an offering that’s really cool. And we have potential clients out there that can benefit. Crossing that chasm – figuring out how to demonstrate a hard dollar value, and then figuring out how to extract some percentage of that, is tough. It requires knowledge of their revenue streams, and things they consider competitive/complimentary to what we do, and taking into account the amount of processing room they’ll give you…I’ve helped this process along several times, most recently / notably with BluWave. We struggled to come up with a value prop, and had to “pivot” to get there. When we did, it exploded. I want that here, and sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with scenarios running through my head. Usually about 2:45am strangely enough…

When I’m not X I’m Y...

When I’m not working, I’m either traveling or diving into one of my several obsessions: I’m am amateur genetic genealogist, who has become very knowledgeable about the extended group of people that share versions of my last name. I’m a pilot, currently studying for my Certified Flight Instructor certification. And I’m a golfer – frustrated and near despair about my game on most days, but with a deep well of hope that my next range session will reveal the secret that has eluded me for so long.

What do I do when I’m stuck?

I do something else on my list and then come back to it. That works well for me, from crossword puzzles to writing to business issues. I trust my subconscious to work on the problem a little, and when I come back, I’m usually able to see a path forward. Simple but effective.

What personality trait has gotten me where I am?

The simple answer is, I’m a military kid, so I’m pretty adept at blending in to new environments, and “reading the room.” It’s a survival skill when you change schools every year or two!

Early Bird or Night Owl?

Somewhere in between. Normally I’m early to bed and early to rise. But when I’m obsessed with something I tend to trend later. I can’t sleep past about 6 in the morning in any case.
